The Old, The Young, and The Everlasting

Hi everyone,

I thought that this would be a great time to say l have reached the 65 year old mark. l think that is a blessing; now l can get Medicare, Medicaid and I can ride Medishare.  I can retire.  I can draw a Pension and get loans.  I can get Senior discounts and Senior coffee. I can even have Senior moments.

The world has lots of neat things to offer us Seniors. We really don’t have to do anything. But it seems like Jesus would have us to work now before the night comes. Sowing in Tears and Reaping in Joy at 65.          Bob

From Chris G.

Romans 12:12-13

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Romans 12:12 has become my life verse as of recently, but God has really challenged me with verse 13. “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

This past 6 months leading up to my 2 month stay in Africa, God has really been stretching me. Through all that time I could hear Him telling me one thing, “Go”.

So I went and I’m here. I just concluded my first half of this trip, and I wanted to share with you 3 truths that God has revealed to me over the last month.

Many things have changed over the 4 years that I’ve been away from Ghana. However, one thing remains, people are hungry for the word of God.

“God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.” This has been so true in my stay here. I’m just an average 20-year-old guy who listened to God when he told me to go. I was unprepared but willing to listen to what God wanted me to say.

As I was talking to the men in a village just outside Jirandogo, God told me to throw away what I had prepared to talk with them that afternoon, and listen to what He was about to say through me.

Over the next 45-minutes God spoke through me in a way that I couldn’t even take the credit for. The Chief asked me after I had finished if I was a pastor back in the states. My response surprised myself, “No sir, I’m just an average person, asking God to speak through me.”

The last truth that I’ve been taught over the last 32 days is that “If we become comfortable, we become lazy.” I once heard a pastor say that “The Devil’s best tactic isn’t to scare us to death; it’s to make us believe that we’re okay.”

When we believe that we’re okay we believe that there’s no room for improvement. When there’s no room for improvement we become complacent, and we never attempt to make ourselves available to God.

So in a nutshell I’ve learned that it is essential to share to people in need, but not just in Africa. We are called to share everywhere. Practice hospitality.

Secondly if God tells you to “Go”, he will use you no matter your skills, prayer life, age or amount of money you have, he will make a way if you follow his command.

Lastly don’t settle for good enough, something can always be improved. You are as close to God as you want to be.

As we grow older 2 things we find to be true. 1.) No matter how old you are, you never stop working for God's purpose.
2.) God never runs out of blessings.
Oh, and at age 65 you are allowed to eat all the cake you want.
